WordPress plugin-o-rama

Ca 12 timmar tog det, att från start till mål sätta upp den här bloggen. En stor del av tiden har jag lagt på att välja, välja bort, installera och konfigurera plugins. Det är sjukt kul. Så här ser min lista ut just nu, och lite längre ner finns länkar till fler bloggares förslag.

  • Akismet. Sorterar bort spam-kommentarer på ett lysande sätt. Ett självklart val.
  • All in one SEO pack. Hjälper förhoppningsvis till med lite sökmotoroptimering. Men det är på marginalen. Viktigare pluggar följer längre ner. Tillhör kategorin ”dumt att avstå”.
  • Blip.it iPhone handler. En kul detalj som ser till att blip-videos som inkluderas i posterna funkar klockrent i iPhone också. Hur snyggt som helst.
  • Feedburner Feedsmith. Kör du inte dina RSS-flöde genom Feedburner så måste du börja NU. Feedsmith är grädde på moset som hjälper till att sy ihop det med din blogg.
  • FlickrRSS. För snygg integration av Flickr. Just nu kör jag med ett manuellt hack i min sidebar (för att det är kul att hacka) men den här ska nog sättas i arbete sedan.
  • Google XML Sitemaps. Läs på hos Google Webmaster Tools, och inse hur briljant den här pluggen är.
  • Local Analytics. Hjälper till med integrationen av underbara Google Analytics. GA är ett måste, men jag är inte säger på att den här pluggen är den bästa. Andra tips?
  • MyBlogLog Recent Readers Widget. Integrerar MyBlogLog, som kändes lite kul för ett år sedan, men nu är jag tveksam. Kör inte widgeten just nu, juryn är fortfarande ute på den här.
  • NoFollow Free. Med akismet som spamskydd och med en liten tajt publik finns det ingen anledning att inte ge googlejuice till kommentarerna. Den här löser det.
  • OpenID. Borde vara självklart på alla bloggar – ett slags ansats till single sign on för hela internet. Och det gör det inte bara enklare att kommentera, det kan göra storverk för registrerade användare på din blogg också. Skaffa den.
  • Photo Dropper. Hjälper till att hitta Creative Commons-licensierade bilder, direkt i wordpress admin-gränssnitt.
  • Profilactic. Plugin med samma namn som ”lifestreaming-tjänsten” den bygger på. Den låter mig göra en sidebar som du ser här till höger och en hel samlingsida som jag lagt upp på /lifestream. Fick hacka en hel del i koden för att få den att göra som jag ville, men nu är jag sjukt nöjd.
  • Search Unleashed. Kompetent sök-utbyggnad. För egen del kör jag den för att sökningen ska ske även i kommentarerna och för att inkommande google-sökningat ska bli extra välkomnade. Ska tweeka den här lite också, i nästa steg.
  • Simple Pie Core. Hardcore plugin som optimerar prestanda för PHP. Installera, håll uppdaterad, och glöm. Många plugins använder den, en del till och med kräver att den är installerad.
  • Simple Tags. Åker in och ut med jämna mellanrum. Nya WP är duktig på taggar själv, men den här är underbar för batch-redigering, taggkoll etc… Om du ska köra den med 2.7 så måste du fixa lite enligt det här hacket.
  • Subscribe to comments. Gör vad den säger, konstigt att den inte finns integrerad i WP Core än.
  • WordPress.com stats. Snabb och enkel tillgång till statistik direkt på din dashboard. Dumt att låta bli.
  • WordPress Mobile Edition. Skickar mobila besökare vidare till ett avskalat tema. Gör sajten väldigt funkis även på små skärmar och långsamma uppkopplingar.
  • WP-Syntax. Nördfest. Låter hobbykodare som undertecknad klistra in kodexempel och få dem snyggt presenterade.
  • WPTouch iPhone Theme. Tema anpassat för iPhone [duh] med gott om inställningsmöjligheter. Har fortfarande inte bestämt mig om det här är bästa av de som finns. Mest avancerad, förvisso.

Avaktiverade ligger Commentluv (behöver anpassas), GetRecentComments (som inte alls fungerade med temat eller 2.7), UMapper (gillar, men passar inte riktigt in i stuket), Woopra (väntar på koden för den här sajten). Och det är ändå bara början – det finns så underbart många smarta lösningar där ute.

Anmärkningsvärt är hur många plugins som funkar rakt av, trots att 2.7 bara är beta. Och trots att mitt tema (GEEX3M) är lastgammalt. Och hur lätt det är att fixa det lilla som inte funkar rakt av, antingen i form eller funktion. Jag är imponerad. Igen.

    Allows you to create a list of Bloggar-tags at the bottom of your post by providing a comma separated list of tags between the [tags] tags. You can use it with any blogging tool/method, not just when posting from WordPress itself (doesn’t use custom fields). Supports multiple words within tags. Also allows in-post tagging of words by enclosing them in [tag] tags. Works with the WYSIWYG editor. By Broobles (modified by Naseer).
